The premier international air gathering known as Art Basel consists of three annual shows, first in Basel, Switzerland, then in Miami, USA, and finally in Hong Kong, China.
Every show is divided into sections displaying a range of artwork from well known contemporary artists to those that are new to the industry. Local participating galleries in collaboration with the event often host open houses, lectures, and other special events in support of Art Basel. Every year the event attracts larger and larger internal attendees, from collectors to curators anyone who is anyone is art is at At Basel.
To become a gallery that can participate in the show they may first pass a rigorous selection process by a group or renowned international gallery owners. The process takes a minimum of a week and helps to establish the standards the Art Basel sets for each gallery.
One of the most popular destinations for Art Basel is the show in Miami. Every year it attached more and more attendees. With the famous street art in Wynwood to the beautiful views of South Beach, it’s popularity really comes as no surprise.
Pioneered in 2015 by Noah Horowitz the first Art Basel Miami had 267 galleries on display from more than 32 counties. This international appeal continues to draw in a larger audience each year with many collectors seeking a more efficient way to get into and out of the shows.
By avoiding the stresses and hassles of commercial travel out of Miami International (MIA) many savvy attendees are choosing to charter a flight into Miami Executive Airport in Opa Locka. This allows you to get into and out the action as quickly as possible.
