Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ, MDPC) is a private, public airport in Punta Cana, in the eastern part of the Dominican Republic. It opened in 1983 and was the world’s first private airport. Today it is a modern aviation facility with many additional features and facilities for customers of different classes. In 2011 PUJ was significantly expanded with the addition of a control tower and a new paved runway. Each runway is more than 3 thousand meters long and can handle 2 million passengers without delay; for several years in a row, more than 60% of the airline operations in the Dominican Republic were at Punta Cana International Airport.

PUJ has five terminals for convenient and fast service to and from the Dominican Republic for general aviation and private jet customers. Recently a second international terminal was opened, it is designed to receive about 6 thousand passengers a day.
