Charter a Gulfstream Private Jet

Founded in 1958, Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, a subsidiary of General Dynamics, is one of the most recognized manufacturers of business jets. For decades, Gulfstream has been considered as one of the most innovative leaders in private jet design and manufacturing.

Below, we take a look at some of the highlights of Gulfstream’s history and a few of the newest and most popular models our clients choose for their private charter needs.

Gulfstream: Delivering decades of innovative business jet design

Gulfstream’s roots began in the 1950s when Grumman Aircraft Engineering Co., a company that engineered military aircraft, developed a jet for business travelers called the Grumman Gulfstream I (G-I) that could accommodate up to 12 passengers with a maximum speed of 350 mph and a range of 2,200 miles.

The success of this jet led to the next-generation aircraft and the first jet-powered Gulfstream business jet, the GII. In the 1980s, Gulfstream prioritized the development of the Gulfstream fleet with the delivery of approximately 40 Gulfstream GIIB aircraft in 1981.

The company’s name was changed to Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation before its acquisition by Chrysler Corp. Soon after, Gulfstream made its debut at number 417 on the Fortune 500 list. In 1989, Paulson teamed up with a private equity firm and bought the company back from Chrysler.

Over the next decade, the company flourished under Paulson’s leadership. In 1997, Gulfstream delivered the GV, the industry’s first ultra-long-range business jet with a nonstop range of up to 6,750 nautical miles.

Gulfstream was acquired by General Dynamics in the late 1990s and continued introducing innovative aircraft to the market. The company also made strategic acquisitions, including four U.S. maintenance facilities in Dallas, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, and West Palm Beach. These service locations, along with a company-owned facility in Massachusetts, led the maintenance and repair of business jets, including Gulfstream aircraft.

Today, the family of Gulfstream jets seamlessly connects cities around the globe, allowing passengers to travel faster, farther, and safer than ever before. Below is a brief look at some of the most popular Gulfstream jets for domestic and international private charters.
