By April 2008, the popularity of the Phenom 100 and 300 continued its upward trajectory and Embraer, a Brazilian Aircraft Manufacturer, noticed demand for a series of aircrafts that neatly fit somewhere between their Phenom’s and Legacy 600’s, enter the Legacy 450 and shortly after the Legacy 500. This Super Midsize jet aircraft has incredible ramp presence. It measures in with an incredible cabin height of 6’ with a flat floor design while being 6.10 ft wide and 26. ft. long. One of the main features of this cabin is the fully berthing seats. Any two adjacent seats can be maneuvered into position to allow them to be fully berthed. The main benefit of Embraer’s fully berthing seats is the backs of the chairs are maneuvered to make up the middle section of the bed, providing more support for the client.
The Legacy 500 proved tricky for the 800 engineers that were troubleshooting the fly-by-wire software system and thankfully, by November 2012, the prototype took flight! The first delivery was made to an elated aircraft owner on October 11, 2014.
The Legacy 500 is typically configured for 8 but can be configured to accommodate 12 passengers. It boasts an extra 5 cu. ft. of baggage storage, an extra 2 ft. 10 in. of cabin space, and can hold up to an extra 2,100 lbs of fuel increasing its range by over 200 miles as well as higher cruising speed by 4 knots. Whether a quick weekend trip or a coast to coast trip in either direction in the US, it has you covered non-stop and that is a beautiful thing.
